residential living

Our planned residential campus at House of Hope - Illinois will offer hurting teens a safe, loving, Christ centered, healing environment with a focus on restoration of the family, their education and life skills instruction.

Imagine a 14 year old teen, disrespecting parents, disregarding family rules, showing no respect for authority figures, abusing substances, running away, not attending school regularly, sexually active, and violent with family members.

What do parents do? Where do they turn? How can they get help for their teen? This is the reason for House of Hope - Illinois. This is why we are building a home for hurting teens, offering hope and help.

Be a part of what God is doing.

Our campus, modeled after the successful House of Hope Orlando in Florida, will initially offer structured residential living for boys ages 13-17, to be followed with a similar home for non-pregnant girls ages 13-17. The residential house will be home to teens for 8 to 18 months.

While living at the House of Hope, teens will receive professional counseling, continue their education, and receive instruction in life skills. House of Hope Orlando states, "the goal is to reconcile teens with their parents through counseling, education, love and most importantly prayer.  We base our program on biblical principles and provide Christ centered counseling for teen and parents."

While teens are at the House of Hope, parent involvement is mandatory. Parents or guardians will be expected to be on campus twice weekly for visitation and parent classes. Healing at House of Hope involves the entire family.

HOPE ACADEMY ::

As we model after House of Hope Orlando, "each student will attend our on campus Hope Academy, which features the Accelerated Christian Educational (ACE) program. The ACE program offers a high school diploma with transferable credits. Upon arrival, each student will be given a diagnostic test which determines an appropriate placement level in each course. An individualized educational program is then designed for each student, allowing them to progress at their own pace.

Most students, because of behavioral problems, poor attendance, and lack of motivation are behind in their regular grade level when they come to House of Hope. In our program, they quickly make up courses and achieve their academic level."

Extra curricular activities will include selected field trips, activities associated with the creative arts; music, art, dance, photography, and more. Extra curricular activities are a way for teens to make choices and solve problems.

Teens who may be having difficulties in other parts of the school curriculum may find an expressive outlet through the creative arts. It’s a good way to uncover talent that may not be seen otherwise.

Through the creative arts, teens can communicate ideas, feelings, and solutions in a way other than verbally or written.

quotes from our parents:

"If I listened to my friends and co-workers instead of the advice from HOPE for Families, I know for a fact I would not have my daughter today."

"I wish House of Hope was available when my son desperately needed help. We had no where to turn, no support during our time of crisis."

"She was not the same teen who walked into your office as when she walked out.  Thank you for what you do."

"Even though I do not attend HOPE for Families on a regular basis, the e-mails I receive from you show me that you really do care for me and my family."
