Risky behaviors of youth

According to the Centers for Disease Control, Department of Health and Human Services, statistics for Illinois youth in grades 9 through 12 for 2007 include:

• 52% have tried smoking

• 20% are current smokers

• 74% have tried alcohol

• 39% have tried marijuana

• 37% are sexually active

• 13% made a plan to attempt suicide
